Ogaden Rebel Group Claims Conducting Successful Military Exercises

Ogaden Online (in English)

Reports reaching our service desk indicate the existence and the successful conclusion of military exercises carried out by newly-trained divisions of Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) army. These exercises took place in many parts of Ogaden.

It is reported that Ethiopian military in Ogaden were in awe and in state of apprehension about the sheer strength and number of the ONLF army personnel taking part in these military exercises. Ethiopian military belatedly gathered a large army including infantry, attack helicopters, and armed personnel carriers to confront the ONLF army conducting the military exercises. It is reported that the Ethiopian army and militias were called from Dolo and Korahey provinces and the cities of Gode and Harar.

The mix of Ethiopian army and Tigray militias planned to confront, and possibly break up, the ONLF military exercises. Eyewitnesses, however, told our reporters in Dolo and Korahey that the Ethiopian military failed horribly in its attempt to attack and break up the ONLF military exercises. Locals are said to be in jubilant mood.

Political pundits in the Horn of Africa believe that these exercises will trouble the minds of the Ethiopian army planners and their political masters who were expecting to have wrapped up their military campaigns in Ogaden by now. The same pundits intimate that these newly-trained divisions will for sure change the military environment in Ogaden. The pundits add that the ONLF may be readying itself to cut off logistical lines for the Ethiopian army divisions that are now deployed in Somalia.
