The Arab Governments have received a memorandum from the Sultans of Somaliland, expressing the injustice sustained by the people of Somaliland and denouncing the British Government for abandoning their country in favor of Ethiopia without consulting them. The memorandum said that the people of Somaliland want the Arab States to submit their problem to the U.N. General Assembly. Talks are now in progress among the Arab States to approach the problem through diplomatic channels. (1500 GMT)
Sultan (Bihi Nomin?), member of the Somali delegation to the United Nations, has stated that he anticipates that a revolution and fighting will break out in Western Somaliland if it is not liberated from the rule of the Ethiopian Kingdom. The Somali leader added that the Somali people bitterly oppose their subjugation to Ethiopian rule and that unless the United Nations acts to ease the present tension in western Somaliland, serious occurrences will break out in this region.
