Mogadishu Domestic Service (in Somali) — 11 February 1965

[FBIS translated] The Syrian minister for Awqaf, Abd ar-Rahman al-Kawakibi, has said that the Ethiopian Government with the assistance of Israel is unlawfully massacring the Somali population living in the Somali territory under Amhara occupation. Al-Kawakibi recently visited Mogadishu where he took part in the Muslim conference.

Al-Kawakibi continued:

“The Somali people living to the west of the Somali Republic are part of the people of the Somali Republic. They are Muslim people who support their brothers in their feelings towards us. The killing en masse and oppression of the people living in that region by the Ethiopian Government is being done with the assistance of experts on cruelty supplied by Israel. Ethiopia is the biggest agent Israel has in the African continent.”
