Reports reaching our service desk from Korahe province [in eastern Ethiopia] confirm that ONLF [Ogaden National Liberation Front] troops, those specially trained for commando operations, have carried out a military sweep of the city of Shaygoosh.

It is reported that the commandos raided the main Ethiopian military garrison in the city’s outskirts. Reports add that many parts of the garrison have been damaged. The guard post at the main entry was destroyed so was the outlook post within the garrison. The garrison has been on fire since this morning, local time.

The fire has not been extinguished at the time of this report.

It is not yet known how many deaths occurred due to this commando raid, however, reliable sources indicate that there are multiple casualties.

The same sources add that the Ethiopian military personnel in the garrison were caught off guard by the swiftness of the commando raid operation, which they say was unexpected.
