Amman SAWT AL-SHA’B (in Arabic) pg. 7
Amman — The Arab Socialist Ba’th Party in Jordan has issued a statement on the U.S. occupation of Arab Somalia.
The statement says: This is a new link in the chain of conspiracies led by the United States with the aim of occupying Arab territory under international cover and with the collusion of some Arab regimes. It became clear a long time ago that the United States was preparing to carry out a new scheme aimed at creating further tension in some areas of the Arab homeland to justify the dispatch of its war machine to these areas, which are close to the sources of energy and consummate its control of sea outlets in our homeland under all conceivable pretexts.
After the U.S. Administration, in agreement with its NATO allies, Turkey, and Iran, had managed to create a pocket of agents in northern Iraq; after it had carried out its schemes regarding the occupation of the Arabian Gulf outlets and the seizure of oil wells in the region under the cover of protection treaties concluded with the collusive regimes, it is now exploiting the Somali people’s ordeal and suffering-the hunger and infighting among its factions and tribes it has encouraged-and dispatching scores of thousands of U.S. troops to occupy the Arab Horn of Africa in Somalia and Djibouti, which controls the Bab el Mandeb outlets in the southern part of the homeland, in a bid to pose threats to Yemen and Sudan.
Now that we have become acquainted with the U.S. operations conducted under the guise of upholding human rights, providing relief aid to the suffering and hungry, safeguarding security and stability, protecting agent rulers, or installing others in our homeland, we denounce and condemn all new imperialist operations and appeal to our Arab people, to our mass and party organizations, and to our trade associations to expose and condemn the objectives of these operations in order to thwart them by all means before it is too late so that the U.S. pincers may not clamp down on our homeland, bring about its gradual disintegration, and impose agent regimes on it to promote imperialist and international conspiracies to the detriment of our nation.
