Mogadishu Domestic Service in Somali 2045 GMT 29 May 88

A statement from the SDR Defense Ministry this evening said a gang of armed terrorists made a suicide attack on Burco, Togdheer Region, on the morning of Friday, 27 May 1988, wounding innocent civilians and destroying a number of private dwellings and government offices.

The statement says the security forces quickly checked the attack and restored peace and security. The SDR Defense Ministry statement adds that a number of officers were injured during the operation.
