Somali National News Agency (in English) — 1516 GMT

Mogadishu — A Western Somali Liberation Front (WSLF) communique issued today announced that the Addis soldiers at Kara Marda mountain have been driven out of the area, suffering heavy casualties and great loss in military equipment, culminating in the liberation of the whole Jigjiga area from Addis colonization and now is entirely and firmly in the hands of the WSLF forces.

The communique added that the fleeing Addis soldiers are now being hunted down by the WSLF forces in Hade village, further west of Kara Marda.

Another communique issued today by the Somali Abo Liberation Front (SALF), says that the villages of Kirshe and Yabele, on the west of Negele, have been liberated from the Addis colonial troops. It added that fierce battles have been raging at Negele, the capital of Sidamo province, during this week between the SALF forces and the Addis troops who were trying to break through the SALF siege forces of Negele.

According to a report from SONNA regional correspondent in Hargeisa, the Addis troops, after suffering serious reverses at the hands of the liberation forces, have now resorted to launching desperate air raids on Somalia. In the two air raids perpetrated by the Addis air force, the F-5 fighter planes were shot down yesterday and one F-5 fighter plane was shot down today.

The report said that the Addis air raid inflicted no damages other than to a Soviet passenger plane of AN-26 model which was at Hargeisa airport.

The Addis air force air raids follow a similar air raid at Tug Wajale on the 8th September which resulted in the killings of civilian populations including women and children.
