Moscow radio says imperialists seek to discredit Somali policy

Moscow radio to Africa (in English) 1630 GMT

Imperialist groups in the West are showing concern over the positive changes in the world, the victories of anticolonial and anti-imperialist forces, the spreading of socialist ideas, and progress made by the countries of socialist orientation in Africa. In an effort to stop the liberation process, the imperialists organize and conduct subversive activities against progressive regimes.

One of the countries that has lately been the object of the increased a imperialist propaganda in Africa is the Somali Democratic Republic. Western propaganda more than once tried to discredit the policy of the Somali Government and mislead the world public. Some time ago, the press in the United States talked much Soviet bases in Somalia. Of course, all this turned out to be a lie. Propaganda attacks on Somalia are part of the broad anti-Somalia campaign conducted by international imperialism and the groups backing it. The imperialist reaction stops at nothing. It employs lies, slander and provocation.

From this standpoint the Somali Government viewed the events of 4th February, when French colonial troops, from the territory of the French territory of Issa’s, supported by tanks and heavy artillery, attacked the Somali settlement of Loyada. Killed and wounded were reported among Somali officials and villagers.

Somalia has won respect in Africa and in the rest of the world by its social and economic reforms conducted in the interests of the people and aimed at building desire for economic independence and by actions to protect peace and do colonialism and racism.

The policies of Somalia affect the [words indistinct] forces in Africa, strengthening the progressive group on the continent. That is why international reaction tries to intimidate the government, prevent the peaceful construction of a new life and create hostility between Somalia and neighboring African countries.
