Western Somali Liberation Front reports operations against Ethiopian troops



Baghdad INA radio (in Arabic) — 1345 GMT

Baghdad — The rebels of western Somalia have killed six Ethiopian occupation force soldiers and burned a military vehicle carrying supplies and ammunition in an armed clash near the town of (Danun?) which is adjacent to the Democratic Republic of Somalia. A statement issued by the United Front for the Liberation of Western Somalia and released by its office here today says that:

“…the Ethiopian occupation authorities carried out reprisals against the civilian population of whom seven were martyred including a woman and a child.”

The rebels also:

“…ambushed an Ethiopian patrol and opened machinegun fire on it, killing four soldiers and wounding others.”

The Ethiopian occupation authorities then:

“…launched terrorist operations against the population of (words indistinct) which is the biggest town in western Somalia, resulting in casualties and material losses.”

The Front’s statement stresses that the western Somali fighters’:

“…faith in the principle of armed struggle for the liberation of their homeland from Ethiopian occupation is increasing.”
