The president of the Islamic League in the Somali Republic, in a telegram to President Aden and Premier Abdirashid, said:

“The League stands by Somali Republic army in defending the country against Habashi (Abyssinian) enemies.”

“I do not speak on behalf of the Islamic League alone, but also on behalf of the leaders of the religion in the entire Somali Republic.”
