The president of the Islamic league in the Somali Republic, in a telegram to President Aden and Premier Abdirashid, said:

“The League stands by Somali Republic army in defending the country against Habashi (Abyssinian) enemies. I do not speak on behalf of the Islamic League alone, but also on behalf of the leaders of the religion in the entire Somali Republic.”
