Egyptian representative denied request to accompany murder investigation

(Talk on the recent death of the Egyptian U.N. Representative in Somaliland – Summary of broadcast with quotations)

Egypt requested permission for a representative of hers to accompany those who will investigate the assassination of the Egyptian delegate on the U.N. committee for Somaliland, Kamal ad-Din Salah. Unfortunately this request has not been accepted. “This shows that those who like to dominate others want to suppress the truth in order to hide their evil. If an Egyptian representative were permitted to be present he might expose the murderous evil and those who committed the evil deed.”

The evil deed was not aimed at the Egyptian delegate and Egypt alone; “…it was aimed at the people of Somalia as well, because the assassinated. person, the late Kamal ad-Din Salah, was an advocate who looked after their interests. The late Kamal ad-Din Salah used to work for the people in the various parts of Somaliland so that they might be able to administer their affairs and their governments.”

Last year, the late Kamal ad-Din Salah “wanted the United Nations to give specific guarantees preserving the interests of the people and country of Somaliland and to protect them from possible attack in 1960 when Somaliland will obtain complete independence. The murderers who love to dominate others and to deprive them of their property could not bear to see a noble man like the late Kamal ad-Din Salah spoiling for them the oppressive boundaries which they had set up with a view to keeping Somaliland under their grip.”

It was idle to think that by assassinating Kamal ad-Din Salah the movement for the security of the people of Somaliland and the country’s security would be eliminated. “The murderers and oppressors who planned the assassination of Kamal ad-Din Salah ought realize that a large number of Egyptians would not allow the banner of freedom carried by Kamal ad-Din Salah to fall to the ground; they will take it from his hands and will continue to champion the rights and freedom of peoples forcibly oppressed and dominated. And if a second man falls, there will be a third ready to take over.”

“The task of hoisting the banner of freedom of all oppressed peoples in the colonies will be carried by Egypt continually until the purpose is achieved. The mission of the late Kamal ad-Din Salah is the mission of Egypt, and Egypt will continue to carry out its mission for those countries whose rights are usurped. The Somalis and the people of Somaliland may rest assured that Egypt will not forsake them and that she will keep her promise to them. “
