Premier Abdullah Isa has sent a message to President Jamal Abd al-Nasir asserting Somali solidarity with Egypt in its struggle to preserve its Independence and sovereignty. The Somali Servicemen’s Association, of 20,000 men, has declared its readiness to participate in the battle of liberation in Egypt.
Speaking at the Somali Legislative Council, opposition leader Abd al-Qadir Adam urged preparation and caution so that the imperialist powers cannot repeat their attempts to infringe upon the sovereignty of the Egyptian people and prejudice their independence. Crowds of visitors are still calling at the Egyptian consulate to express their feelings for the Egyptian people and their absolute support of their struggle. Prayers have been held in mosques, after which speakers called for aid to Egypt. The Egyptian consulate has also been crowded with volunteers.
